So, we decided to try an all natural dye with tea for our Easter eggs this year.  I’ve been seeing all these naturally dyed easter eggs all over pinterest for a couple years, and I have been seriously been dying to try them. (pun totally intended:)  The process took way longer than I expected (overnight, in fact), and since I hadn’t taken the time to find a tutorial and just jumped right in, of course I was just guessing based on what we did as kids with food coloring.

Although they look very similar to the color of farm fresh eggs, and I guess I could have just grabbed some from the market and saved us the trouble of going through all of this madness, I think they’re really so gorgeous.  I was so pleased when I pulled them from the tea bath.

If you love these and want to try it yourself, it’s so easy.  Just brew up enough tea for your eggs.  I used two bowls (two teabags each) that would fit three eggs each (there’s just the two of us, so this was really just for funsies), and filled them with enough hot water to cover said three eggs.  Once the tea was brewed pretty dark, I put it in the microwave to warm it up then put the eggs in the bath with a couple tablespoons of vinegar and kept checking them.  Overnight will probably give you better results on the dark color.  I put it in the fridge since it was cold anyway after a while, and well, they are eggs, so in the fridge overnight, and in the morning, they were so gorgeous!

Happe Easter and happy egg dying!!!  Cheers!!
